Their lover E is led astray by power and seeks to bring O back from the dead. They manage—but do not recognise O in their new body\, so seek to become Death themself. Death is just doing her job. Until she isn’t.  \nO\,D\,E is a new experimental opera by Sage J Harlow (aka Sage Pbbbt). A queer\, occult retelling of Orpheus & Eurydice\, grounded in the suffering that comes with simply being alive. DESCRIPTION:For this one-night-only event\, independent labels Tone List and Rockton Records join forces to bring US journalist Liz Pelly into conversation with local musician and educator Michael Terren. Drawing from complementary areas of research\, the two will discuss how contemporary culture is being shaped by digital tools for creative production and consumption\, such as Spotify and Ableton. \nLiz Pelly’s book Mood Machine: The Rise of Spotify and the Cost of the Perfect Playlist is an unsparing investigation into Spotify’s origins and influence on music\, weaving unprecedented reporting with incisive cultural criticism. Hard copies of Mood Machine will be available for purchase on the night\, supplied by Rabble Books. \nMichael Terren is co-editor of the book Creative Tools and the Softwarization of Cultural Production. The book explores how creativity is increasingly designed\, marketed\, and produced through digital products and services\, which are not always politically\, economically or culturally neutral. \nAs independent music labels operating in grassroots communities\, Tone List and Rockton Records recognise the need to divest from extractive\, unethical streaming platforms like Spotify. We hope this evening of discussion sparks reflection\, criticality\, and further action amongst the Boorloo music scene. \n  \nSchedule: \n5:45PM — Doors open \n6:00PM — Discussion begins \n6:50PM — Questions \n7:15PM — Wrap up \n7:30PM — Doors close \n  \nPS. Tone List are presenting O\,D\,E\, an experimental opera by Sage J Harlow at The Blue Room Theatre on the same night\, in the same building at 8:00pm\, upstairs in the theatre. Ticket holders to the Tuesday night O\,D\,E show can access discounted ticket prices to this event. \nAcknowledgments\nTone List operates on Whadjuk Noongar boodja: sovereign Country for eternity. We pay respects to boodja\, and to Noongar birdiya (elders) and custodians across time. We dream of a culture of sounding and nih (listening) which supports restorative justice and the Lore of the land. \nTone List stands for a Free Palestine: for peace\, for freedom from occupation and apartheid\, for self-determination\, the right to return for Palestinians in their homelands\, and for safe\, liberated expression in cultural spaces. \nAccessibility\nThe Blue Room Theatre is a wheelchair accessible space. This event is held in the Kaos Room\, which is on the ground floor. Accessible\, all-gender bathrooms are located on the ground floor. The venue will be lit by a mixture of fluro and natural lighting. Windows can be opened in the space for ventilation. This event will also have a link to attend remotely via live video meet.

DESCRIPTION:Ryosuke Kiyasu \nRyosuke Kiyasu is a pioneering snare-drum soloist who has redefined percussion since 2003. Alongside his viral 2018 Berlin set (23 million+ views. also featured by BBC News and VICE)\, he drums for noise-grind duo SETE STAR SEPT\, the Kiyasu Orchestra\, Keiji Haino’s Fushitsusha\, and co-founded Canada’s cult hardcore unit The Endless Blockade. From Überschlag—the world’s largest classical-percussion festival—to Finland’s Outsider Art Festival and Dr. Martens Fest\, Kiyasu’s 2022-24 itinerary placed him on premier stages across Europe. His performance film at the 2023 Edinburgh Art Festival sparked art-world buzz\, while a capsule line with Swedish label Our Legacy pushed his aesthetic into fashion. The duo present their latest album GLINT and share the story of its making with musician-curator\, Josten Myburgh. \n💠 \nSaturday 20 September\nState Library of WA\, Southern Room (Level 4)\n2pm – 4pm\nEntry by donation \n💠 \nRoss Bolleter & Eduardo Cossio are among the most prolific experimental musicians in Boorloo. Ross is a composer\, poet\, and Zen master described by The Wire as “a true original of Australian composition”. For more than four decades he has explored the unique and resonant sounds of Ruined Pianos. \nEduardo is a musician\, visual artist\, and the organiser of Outcome Unknown. He is known for an idiosyncratic approach to electro-acoustic music using de-tuned zithers\, voice\, and harmonicas. \nThe duo began working together in 2022. They have since released Dark Shine (2023)\, Such & Such (2024) – both on the French label Thödol Records – and Glint (2025). Their co-written article ‘Casting a Net for Synchronicities’ will be published by UnMagazine in September. \n💠 \nJosten Myburgh is a composer\, improviser\, saxophonist and organiser of experimental music. They are co-director of not-for-profit organisation Tone List\, and since 2017 has curated their Art Music Award-winning Audible Edge festival. \n💠 \nAccessibility \nThe public lifts go to the 3rd Floor and from there the Great Southern Room is accessible via two flights of stairs. DESCRIPTION:Independent labels jade//vision\, Rockton Records & Tone List join at PS on September 26 in a show of solidarity for Palestinians\, and to directly support two families living in Gaza through mutual aid. \nAs Israel’s campaign of starvation\, forced displacement & genocide escalates we are calling on our communities to continue to speak out\, act & help to provide material support to families suffering on the ground. \nThe line-up for the night draws from artists from our respective scenes\, alongside writers & activists\, to create a reflective space for grieving\, processing\, recharging\, organising & fundraising. We are glad to be united in support of freedom in Palestine and in fostering free expression locally. \nWith (alphabetical order): \nDelivery Buoy \njade//vision Live with Hannah Magar\, POW! Negro & other special guests \nMoses & Blue \nBar run by PS. Snacks & merch TBA. \n100% of profits from ticket sales will be donated to two Gazan musicians we are directly in contact with.
