SUMMARY:WWIM presents: Exploring Sounds with Contact Mics and Found Objects
DESCRIPTION:WWIM presents: Exploring Sounds with Contact Mics and Found Objects is a free\, introductory workshop designed for young people (aged 16-25) to\nexperiment with contact microphones and create improvised sounds using\nobjects. \nA contact microphone senses audio vibrations through contact with solid objects\, unlike normal microphones that sense audio vibrations in the air. This allows for a fascinating exploration of sound in a tactile and immersive way. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to:\n1. Learn the basics of using contact microphones\n2. Experiment with creating sounds from everyday objects\n3. Combine sound with other art forms such as movement and tactile arts \nAttendees will be guided by musicians Jane Stark and Naoko Uemoto. \nThis free workshop is presented by WWIM\, with thanks to Izzy French for the graphics and the City of Melville for their support.
