After Lili is a homely crossover of a solo piano concert, crip hangout space, and 6-hour durational performance art. It explores disabled cultural histories and everyday self-advocacy, in recognition of the French composer Lili Boulanger (1893 - 1918). Boulanger wrote contemplative and expressive music, with ambitious structures that embedded her own crip time living with chronic illnesses. She is remembered for her professional achievements whilst challenging reductive perceptions of women composers, and passed away when she was 24. Melbourne-based composer, performer and researcher Iran Sanadzadeh presents electronic music from her debut album Ocean, Again, performed on terpsichora floors. This electronic instrument – a set of pressure-sensitive wooden platforms with sensors controlled by whole-body movement – follows on from the work of pioneering Australian dancer Philippa Cullen. Sanadzadeh’s interactive performance is a deeply innovative exploration of the relationship between movement and sound.
