Graphic Scores in Exploratory Music Workshop Part 2

Join composer and sound artist Elizabeth Millar to explore a variety of historical graphic scores and alternative forms of musical notation including images, video and text. Discussion will be interspersed with group playing. In the second workshop we will explore further examples and workshop graphic scores proposed by group members. These sessions are open to people from all backgrounds and levels of experience. Participants should come ready and willing to experiment with sound and music in a group setting. 'an intervening space, especially a very small one' is a new body of work built upon a collaboration between visual artist Tessa Beale and composer Daniel Harrison in response to the Dwerda Weelardinup (Cantonment Hill) site. The artists are interested in the transient nature of observed shifts in light, shadow, texture and movement and the potential for quiet moments encountered in nature when in unhurried time. Sound walk with Dan Harrison

Composer Dan Harrison shares his methods and creative process with participants in this workshop. Walking around Dwerda Weelardinup (Cantonment Hill), participants will gather field recordings using their personal devices and return to the gallery where Dan will run through his editing process using the material captured by the group.
