Inspired by the Bohemian folk music that he loved, Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony is simply sublime, overflowing with gorgeous melodies that speak straight to the heart. We open with a world premiere from WASO Composer in Residence, Olivia Davies, whose own musical language is distinctive and nuanced. WWIM presents: Exploring Sounds with Contact Mics and Found Objects is a free, introductory workshop designed for young people (aged 16-25) to experiment with contact microphones and create improvised sounds using objects. A contact microphone senses audio vibrations through contact with solid objects, unlike normal microphones that sense audio vibrations in the air.
