Malleefowl #9: Kelsey D & Josten Myburgh

Malleefowl is back for a little while in 2024 for more gentle concerts in the Meltham Cultural Precinct. Come over at 6pm on July 31, 2024 for music, dinner and chats. Kelsey D & Josten Myburgh will share their duo for the first time in front of an audience. Might be a barely-audible assemblage of lip-reading, candles, bells, microtonal guitar, violin, flower petals and text in small typefaces. Inspired by the Bohemian folk music that he loved, Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony is simply sublime, overflowing with gorgeous melodies that speak straight to the heart. We open with a world premiere from WASO Composer in Residence, Olivia Davies, whose own musical language is distinctive and nuanced. WWIM presents: Exploring Sounds with Contact Mics and Found Objects is a free, introductory workshop designed for young people (aged 16-25) to experiment with contact microphones and create improvised sounds using objects. A contact microphone senses audio vibrations through contact with solid objects, unlike normal microphones that sense audio vibrations in the air.
