Sound Exploration Fremantle – Pedro Alvarez
Sullivan Hall 2 Nannine Ave, White Gum Valley, WAPedro Alvarez is an independent composer, performer, improviser and activist born in Chile in 1980, and currently based on Whadjuk Noongar land in Western Australia. His musical practice spans from Andean folk traditions through chamber music to experimental free improvisation, informed by anti-colonial perspectives, critical theory, and poetry. Between 2010-2014, a doctoral scholarship allowed Alvarez to concentrate exclusively on his creative work while living in the UK, completing a Master of Philosophy at University of London, and a PhD guided by Liza Lim at University of Huddersfield.
