Join us for Weekends at PICA, a morning filled with coffee, performance and conversation with PICA’s Djilba/Kambarang artist Sancintya Mohini Simpson. Simpson will present An exhalation: communicating with my ancestors through DNA and an ocean re-remembered. This experimental sound performance incorporates stainless steel vessels, water, salt, the body and breath, creating space to connect with ancestors by reimagining and recreating an ocean space. Marking the 80th and 100th anniversary of Roger Smalley AM and György Ligeti respectively, this 2-day symposium features key-note addresses by Professor Amy Bauer (USA) and Dr Chris Mark (UK) as Institute of Advanced Studies Visiting Scholars. Other speakers include: Dr Adam Pinto (UWA), Dr Paul Tanner (UWA), Dr Stuart James (WAAPA), Dr Federico Favali (Italy).

The final event of the 7 Year Anniversary will feature a performance by Ross Bolleter & Eduardo Cossio on ruined pianos and zithers respectively; a photobook launch by Antoinette Carrier; and a solo saxophone set by Naoko Uemoto.
