A tapestry of exquisite contemporary chamber music, sensor driven lighting and projected generative animation, Conditions of Growth is a new collaborative performance project presented by Ad Lib Collective. Working with the music of Ravel and Rossen the work holds the seeds of connection to the things that need nurturing. Small tendrils of sound, granular close-ups, and full body sound experiences offer us a space to consider what the conditions are that we need to quietly grow. SoundExplorationFremantle coordinates workshops led by respected practitioners of improvised musics. Participants listen, explore, and create, using an eclectic range of sound-making objects, musical and other instruments, and our voices. SEF workshops suit people with all levels of experience (or none) in music and/or improvisation. Tone List presents is our new ad-hoc program of events responsive to proposals, visiting artists, and artist whims. The first of these is a program of experimental performances that play with stillness or quiet in brave ways. The occasion here is a homecoming show for the duo of contemporary dancer Daisy Sanders and alto saxophonist Josten Myburgh. With sets by shapeshifter composer Callum O'Reilly; the new collaboration of poet-musician Ayo Busari (TAB Family) with maverick artist Matt Aitken; and mixing tubes and electronics the project of Clare Wohlnick and Oliver Donovan, CO + 2. A bi-monthly series for improvised music and avant-garde jazz, TuneNoiseTune celebrates leading artists in exploratory music in Western Australia, and new collaborations between jazz and experimental musicians. Come on October 9, 6pm for the improvised trio of Pedro Alvarez (quenas), Djuna Lee (double bass) and Josten Myburgh (alto saxophone), and dinner in the garden together.
