Marking the 80th and 100th anniversary of Roger Smalley AM and György Ligeti respectively, this 2-day symposium features key-note addresses by Professor Amy Bauer (USA) and Dr Chris Mark (UK) as Institute of Advanced Studies Visiting Scholars. Other speakers include: Dr Adam Pinto (UWA), Dr Paul Tanner (UWA), Dr Stuart James (WAAPA), Dr Federico Favali (Italy).

The final event of the 7 Year Anniversary will feature a performance by Ross Bolleter & Eduardo Cossio on ruined pianos and zithers respectively; a photobook launch by Antoinette Carrier; and a solo saxophone set by Naoko Uemoto. Uboa is the solo drone/noise project of Xandra Metcalfe, Naarm/Melbourne-based sound artist specialising in both dreamy ambience and nightmarish caverns of harsh noise. The UWA New Music Collective led by Adam Pinto, Paul Tanner & Chris Tonkin will be joined by Cara Daly, Carissa Soares and Declan Ryan in Ceremony I for percussion quartet, Music for an Imaginary Ballet, and Transformation for piano and electronics.
