SUMMARY:Portent (a ritual)
DESCRIPTION:A new musical work by Ad Lib Collective featuring Wind Up Bird\, in collaboration with Andrew Nicholls \nThroughout human history solar eclipses have been viewed as omens of pending disaster. Mimicking the timing of the Exmouth eclipse\, audiences will experience a sense of the drama and beauty of this extraordinary solar event\, with its frenetic build-up of energy\, and the uncanny awe of the ‘moment of totality’. Part sonic performance experience and part-magickal ritual\, Portent (a ritual) represents a unique collaboration of creative disciplines spanning the visual and performing arts. \nPerformance #1 \n5.30pm – doors and bar open \n6.00pm – performance \n  \nPerformance #2 \n8.00pm – doors and bar open \n8.30pm – performance \n  \nPerformance duration: 50minutes \nHolmes à Court @ No. 10\, \n10 Douglas Street Gooyaman/West Perth \nTickets $35.00 concession; $40.00 full price \nEnsemble  \nAd Lib Collective: Thea Rossen (Percussion)\, Ashley Smith (Clarinets) \nWind Up Bird: James Ledger (Synths)\, Josiah Padmanabham (Synths) \nLighting: Alex Spartalis GSD \nSound: Azariah Felton \nAudiences are then invited to return to Holmes à Court Gallery @ No. 10 on Wednesday 7 February for the official launch of the Portent exhibition\, as part of the 2024 Perth Festival which features the recording of this live performance. \nAccessibility: \nThe venue is one open gallery warehouse space\, there is wheelchair access throughout the venue including to the bathrooms. \nThe lighting design will be very dark at times\, and while there is no strobing\, lighting states will shift throughout. \nThe venue is not temperature controlled\, so dress appropriately on the night if it is hot weather. \nParking is likely to be limited.
