DESCRIPTION:SINE is the provocation of sound made visual. SINE is a mathematical series where the operation adds infinite quantities to a given equation. Mathematics\, music and visual art expand common threads of thinking and expression around thoughts of order. \nArtist\, musician\, maker combine to mediate expressions through material object\, instrument\, performance\, and the graphic to form the exhibition SINE at Wallace. SUMMARY:Mandjoogoordap Sound Improvisation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Discover new sounds you can make yourself at this workshop by Tone List\nAbout the Event\nJoin Mandurah Sound Art Showcase curator and saxophonist Josten Myburgh for a workshop on improvising with sound. Learn skills to discover new sounds\, exploring instruments\, electronics\, and objects not typically thought of as instruments. As a group\, participants will learn to play together\, discovering new ways of making music collectively. \nAll ages and levels of experience welcome. Participants will be invited to play together in a free and exploratory way with sound\, and do not need any prior knowledge of how to improvise – or even how to play music! \nThe workshop is presented by experienced improviser Josten Myburgh\, a Mandjoogoordap-born\, Boorloo-based saxophonist and composer. Josten has performed improvised music internationally in festivals and concerts in Africa\, Australia\, Asia and Europe\, and is active as a performer and curator throughout Western Australia. \nWorkshop is free\, but registrations are required. Light catering provided. DESCRIPTION:Experience the new and unusual in sound art at this special performance brought to you by Tone List. \nEvent Content: A short performance program of fascinating\, experimental and unusual music from artists with strong connections to Mandjoogoordap. Across three projects\, artists explore diverse takes on new ideas in sound and listening today. \nJosten Myburgh plays virtuosic and enrapturing music on solo alto saxophone\, exploring circular breathing and other unusual techniques on the instrument. Newly-formed duo Panamuna Triangle play a hypnotic\, free-form take on post-punk\, inspired by noise music and ambient jazz alike. Rhys Channing (aka Tilde~) makes use of percussion instruments\, nature recordings and computer-generated electronic sounds to produce beautiful and highly textured sounds for immersive listening. \nLimited spaces available.
