DESCRIPTION:Uboa is the solo drone/noise project of Xandra Metcalfe\, Naarm/Melbourne-based sound artist specialising in both dreamy ambience and nightmarish caverns of harsh noise. A testament to Uboa’s intense live shows\, she will be touring the East Coast this year with Liturgy (US) having recently shared the stage with DIS FIG (Berlin)\, previously opening for Gabber Modus Operandi (ID) and Trepaneringsritualen (SW).  \nDrawing lyrical inspiration from her experience as a transgender woman\, Xandra Metcalfe’s work as Uboa condenses a wider range of influences into a frightening soundscape of its own. Fans of Purgist\, Facialmess\, Endon\, Locrian\, Nurse With Wound\, along with artists on the No Rent and Triangle Records labels will find themselves right at home with her soundscapes. \nHer most recent album\, The Origin of My Depression is critically acclaimed\, and led to Uboa being signed to The Flenser (dark experimental record label based in San Francisco).
