A night of incantatory spoken-word and experimental music by two acts working on the margins.
The Definitives are the resident band at DADAA Midland. This motley crew of poets and visual artists draw on their lived experience of mental illness to create whimsical vignettes propelled by freewheeling rhythms. Their work has been hailed by experimental music legend Robbie Avenaim, while collaborations with local musicians Josten Myburgh, Annika Moses and Eduardo Cossio have brought the band a word of mouth following.
Jenny Hickinbotham inhabits multiple voices, perspectives and temporalities to explore mental ill-health with pathos and playfulness. She teams up with softronics producer Plyanci for a new set of experimental song-poems.
