Kira Kira headlines a night of musical adventure at Camelot. This dynamic and explosive Japanese–Australian quartet features Satoko Fujii (piano), Natsuki Tamura (trumpet), Alister Spence (fender rhodes electric piano) and Tatsuya Yoshida (drums). Kira Kira’s music has been described as “awe-inspiring” (AllAboutJazz) and “an absolute triumph” (AusJazz.net). For 16 years, Kira Kira has established a strong collective musical identity based on fearless curiosity and outstanding creative abilities. This performance at PIJF will feature original works written by all four band members and coincides with the release of the band’s latest album.

Supporting Kira Kira is local art music ensemble Ensemble Neoteric, in its debut performance. The group is dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the voices of young Trans*, Non-binary, and Intersex musicians. Their repertoire is based in innovation, featuring a diverse range of elements including improvisations, sound baths, spoken arts and experimental scoring. This will be a night of musical invention and innovation – don’t miss out!
